Her story:
Hi, this is my version of what happened... :) I wasn't looking too hard, since I had a couple of bad internet meetings previously. I had my setting to 300 mile radius of my hometown. One night I thought I'd see who was a match in the UK. I had lived there and been there 3 times. I saw this guy on there who seemed to be what I was looking for... other than he was in England.... and it said he had 2 kids at home!!! I didn't want to be shallow, but I thought these kids... how would he move to Canada if he had kids, then there's the ex and on and on it goes. I love the UK, and love travelling, but I didn't want to live anywhere else but home. I had in my profile, 'Sorry but if you're from far away I'm not interested'. I'd had some players nagging me from Africa and Asia, and was sick of it. When I saw Martin's profile, I thought... ooohh, that wasn't nice of me... I changed it right after I read his profile and added, 'If you're from the UK that's fine, I've lived there... etc' I thought I could be missing out on a good friend, at least. Well, Martin saw that I had viewed his profile and sent me a smile the next day... Sept 14/06. I remember looking at his profile at my friend's house and saying to her... 'this guy sent me a smile, but he's way too good looking for me, he won't go for me(plus those 2 kids...)' My friend agreed he was pretty hot... Then oddly enough... he did go for me. He was different than the rest though... he was always respectful, and never ever said anything out of line... a gentleman! Whoda thunk there were any left!? The thing I learned shortly into emailing was that he owned a house with his mum... and SHE had custody of his BROTHER'S 4 year old twins!!!!!! They weren't his at all! (They are adorable, but I was relieved a fair bit)
Well, he came to visit one of the coldest parts of Canada, the prairies, in January too!!! My family really liked him, and my parents told me that they didn't have any reservations about him. I value their opinion, and for my dad to say that... that's crazy enough! We got engaged, and Martin went back home. Shortly after I went to England and Scotland to meet his family, friends and church family. Martin and his mom sold their house, and he moved here and she moved back home to Scotland with the twins. Martin never thought twice about moving here, and he loves it in this sleepy little prairie hamlet.
We are becoming better friends each day, and try to pray together once a day. We are very thankful for so many blessings, and we are still shocked and really thankful that God brought us together. I always hoped that because I waited so long, and tried to be a righteous christian woman, that God would eventually bless me with a guy who was beyond what I expected. He really did, Martin is very considerate, loving, (really cuddly too), and most importantly...Godly. I am a very blessed woman. Wow, yep still shocked...
